May I Borrow That Book?

so before anyone jumps to conclusions, no, Ribbon is not paired with Tails. Let me explain. 

If you've known me for awhile, or if you go and browse the older things in my gallery, you will know that I was once (sadly) a rabid Tails fangirl. So Ribbon was once paired up with him. Eventually, I grew out of that phase and Ribbon became single. She was then paired with Kai at one point but since I changed his personality radically and tweaked her a bit, they both became single. Ribbon has gone through a lot of changes, personality wise and physically before I decided to settle on her current design and personality. Her colors are supposed to be a little more pale than the actual Ribbon to emphasize that she's not as in-your-face as the other one, but I may not have done a good job with that after possibly messing with the picture too much. 

Some of you may recognize this design as one of her older designs when she was a child and paired with Tails. In this picture, however, Ribbon's feelings for Tails are one sided, Tails is unaware of them, and her personality is completely different, nearly opposite from her actual personality. I guess you could say this is an alternate version of her, a much more calm, idealistic and shy one.

She's a major bookworm (which is why she has a huge ass book) and is very quiet, preferring to observe things (as in social events with large groups of people) more often as opposed to participating in things. She lacks confidence and doesn't think much of herself, but she has a very big heart and is a major humanitarian. She's too nice for her own good and is a total pushover. She's a definite people pleaser and a hardcore pacifist that refuses to use violence or fight under any circumstances (this is probably the only thing between her and canon Ribbon that stayed constant). She's highly emotional and sensitive (especially when it comes to criticism), a perfectionist that's too hard on herself, and is easily overwhelmed/stressed when someone expresses disapproval of her. She's also pretty intelligent and can read people pretty well, and has a strong dislike of any kind of conflict. 

On the bright side, she is: Warmhearted, intelligent, sensitive, insightful, calm, compassionate, non-judgmental, selfless, peace-loving, gentle, intuitive, and a great listener 

But she's also ... : Unassertive, overly-emotional, easily stressed (prone to emotional outbursts when this happens), insecure, is too hard on herself, a complete pushover, irrational where conflict is involved, needs validation from other people and is easily discouraged 

She also has a great sense of humor and can be a lot of fun if you manage to break her shell.

She's not supposed to be a main part of Sonic's gang, but she does interact with them somewhat. She admires all of them for different reasons, but Amy especially for having the courage to be so outspoken about her feelings for Sonic despite possible rejection, something she could never see herself doing since she thinks it might break her.  

She's not canon Ribbon, but she's an alternate version that you'll probably see more of, which is why I threw her personality out there. I drew this more so for nostalgic reasons, but the personality of alternate Ribbon grew on me, so I'll probably keep drawing her.  Hope you guys like it!
